The Chapter published TI working whistleblower princinples for legislation, which is a set of good practice principles occupied by a first-ever detailed report on whistleblower protection practices in ten European countries.
On a separate note, TI Lithuania also commenced with public procurement and statutes of limitations projects and conducted another media accountability event - this time featuring a former chief editor of the Latvian newspaper "Diena" Nellija Locmele. |

TI Lithuania the CPI score for Lithuania in 2009. Lithuania's CPI 2009 score is 4.9. This is a slight improvement over the 2008 score of 4.6 and essentially brings the country CPI back to the levels of 2007, when the score was 4.8. In 2009, Lithuania occupies 52nd place out of 180 countries surveyed.
TI Lithuania carried out a private sector integrity workshop with the colleagues from TI Norway. On a separate note, the Chapter together with the Office of the President of Lithuania organized a discussion with a number of public sector institutions on a whistleblower protection draft law it proposes to be adopted in the spring of 2010. |

The Chapter continued with its media accountability work and carried out a seminar with Stephen Pritchard of the Guardian and a training with Anatoly Verbin of Reuters. TI Lithuania was involved in debates on public procurement, whistleblower protection, and other areas of the Chapter work. |

TI Lithuania presented Global Corruption Report 2009 on corruption in the private sector, which for the first time featured a report on Lithuania. The Chapter launched its blog roll site for ethical media www.zurnalistupusryciai.lt [breakfastofjournalists] and conducted its second "Breakfast of Journalists" seminar with Prof. Jerome Aumente of Rutgers University, US while addressing the ways for journalists to critically assess information. |

TI Lithuania, together with TI Armenia, commenced with a National Endowment for Democracy funded project aimed at developing a regional NGO capacity-building and integrity training package and strengthening of civil society in Armenia. Meanwhile, the Chapter also continued with its whistleblower protection and journalism integrity projects. |

TI Lithuania continued its involvement in the dialogue with Government on accountability and transparency of public procurement by organizing, together with other social partners, a conference on 12 June to address the new developments and future Government plans regarding greater transparency in public procurement. |

TI Lithuania presented the results of its second media accountability project, which showed that the transparency means used by progressive world media and promoted by western academics were still lacking in the Lithuanian newspapers. Lithuanian and Latvian press still lacks in number of transparency means comparing to Swedish daily papers. The Chapter also commenced with its third media accountability project, by starting the "Breakfast of Journalists" project, the aim of which is to create a discussion platform for Lithuanian journalists and best foreign media experts. |
